The Archaeological Museum of Corfu, which inaugurated its new exhibition in 2018, houses antiquities from the ancient city of Corfu and the rest of the island. Through 1,600 exhibits, it narrates the island’s history from prehistoric times to late antiquity. Among them, the monumental pediment from the Temple of Artemis stands out, featuring the depiction of the Gorgon, the oldest surviving stone pediment of ancient Greek architecture.
