The Museum of Solomos and Eminent People of Zakynthos was built after the 1953 earthquakes, on the historic St. Mark’s Square, on land donated by the Holy Metropolitan Church of Zakynthos, and was reconstructed with financial assistance from the State, various organizations, and many private individuals.

The Museum building houses the only Mausoleum in Greece and numerous relics donated by various entities and individuals, and has been in operation since August 24, 1966. It is a literary-social association, established in 1959, and is governed by a six-member board. In 1987, the “Friends of the Museum” Association was founded, based in Athens, which supports the Museum through publications and events.

Note: The visit must be completed by 13:30. Participants are kindly requested to be punctual to ensure the guided tour.
