Corfu Reading Society

The Corfu Reading Society is the oldest intellectual institution in Greece, in continuous operation since 1836. It has a rich specialized and constantly enriched library (over 50,000 volumes, including rare editions from the 16th-19th centuries), as well as unique collections of various archival documents (manuscripts, maps, newspapers, works of art, photographs). The combination of the collections with the unique atmosphere of its spaces, make it an attractive research center for a wide range of domestic and foreign researchers and visitors. Thus, it continues to be a bright spiritual beacon and a stable point of reference in the cultural affairs of the place, highlighting the Ionian Culture in all its manifestations, as well as Greek and European Culture in general.
