Museum of the Corfu Philharmonic Society

The Museum of the Corfu Philharmonic Society presents the history of the island’s oldest philharmonic society, focusing on the musical life of the Ionian Islands and Greece in the 19th century. It includes old and rare musical instruments, student records, photographic material, scores, audio documents and visual works. The exhibition is divided into the following sections: i) The foundation, administration, organization, with material on the early history of the Philharmonic and its organization.. ii) The educational work, where documents are exhibited regarding the educational activities of the institution. iii) The concerts and the Philharmonic as a concert organization of vocal and orchestral music. iv) The band, with information about the repertoire and activities of the Philharmonic band. v) The people and their works, important composers and music educators, who were associated with the Philharmonic and also determined the development of art music in Greece in the 19th century.
